Georgina came from the creative 60’s era of mini skirts, rock ‘n’ roll, psychedelics and anti-war protests. It was a time where freedom of expression was in the air. It was an exciting time, where wonderful things were waiting to be discovered and created. Her creative outlets were many, where she painted, sold or gifted over 100 paintings, and sewed fashions for friends and herself for rock concerts and performance gigs.
Fast forward to “The Shadows of Rhodes,” her first foray into writing. With a penchant for creating, she made “real” people that will be remembered long after the final “The End.”
Born and raised in Southern California, Georgina had musical parents who encouraged their three daughters in that direction by exposure and a short attempt at formal piano lessons and guitar.
“Although I loved listening to my dad play guitar and I went to a lot of his gigs I didn’t have the talent in learning either guitar or piano. My talents reveled in artistic pursuits, ‘hands-on’ learning, as I could always figure out what I needed to do for a desired outcome, whether it was creating from concept a fashion idea to finished item or building a working weathervane from scrap tin. Watercolor painting was my first joy in painting, as it was an inexpensive way to create a thing of beauty. My mom got me my first set of oil paints when I was in high school, and frankly, they scared me! I had never even smelled oil paints before this and I had no idea of how to use them!
“I dove in. I had a newspaper clipping with a photo that inspired me to give it a try. It was a poor quality portrait of a young girl in the midst of the Vietnam war. I was captivated by her gaze. This was my very first attempt at oil painting.
“I became a professional artist, Director of the Corona Art Asso. in the 70’s with many sales and commissioned works. I didn’t start writing until around the time of loosing my husband of 32 years.
“Over the last few years, besides health issues, other events have come to be more important and time consuming than writing, but, determination being key, I'm getting ready to explode on the scene with a new book and possibly a series.
“When the path is clear I'll be updating the status of this event. I am not getting any younger so it will be soon. Sign up for the mailing list as you will keep up with news on any events, like new book releases or book signings, and I also plan some freebies for you in the near future. There is a rumor that in the next release there will be some charters who are on my mailing list, with your permission, who will get up to some dastardly deeds! Something to think about! Stay healthy, curious and active, my friends. ✌️
